The story of Jesus is the story of a group of revolutionaries on their way to the Garden of Gethsemane, the last place they will all be together. It’s a group of people traveling through their homeland, living under the oppression of Roman judges, and Roman soldiers. Their cities are occupied by soldiers and they’re taxed and ruled over by men who have no compassion. As they travel, Jesus teaches them how to free themselves from the oppression at the hands of the Romans, but also how to fight the oppression at the hands of their neighbors – the people who collaborate with the Romans, or the people who preach timidity in the face of oppression.
